Year 4 Hollowford: Day 1 Peveril Castle and Rock Climbing

Our Year 4 children have enjoyed a fantastic first day on their residential visit to Castleton!

This morning, the children began their adventure with a climb up to the historic Peveril Castle. They showed great determination as they tackled the steep walk and were rewarded with some spectacular views across the Peak District.

After working up an appetite, everyone enjoyed a well-earned lunch in the shade at the Hollowford Centre, taking the opportunity to relax and refuel before the afternoon’s activities.

Following lunch, the children unpacked their bags, settled into their rooms and quickly got ready for their next challenge. They then travelled to Higger Tor, where they took part in rock climbing and weaseling. The children demonstrated excellent resilience, courage and teamwork throughout the activities, encouraging one another to push themselves out of their comfort zones and celebrate their achievements.

After such an exciting day, the children are still full of enthusiasm and are looking forward to this evening’s activities, which includes archery, the zip wire and a bonus activity on the high ropes.

We are incredibly proud of how positively the children have approached every challenge so far and look forward to sharing more updates from their Castleton adventure tomorrow!
