Collective Worship

Our Catholic Life Throughout the Year

At St Marie’s our aim is that our school community grow in faith, love, understanding and compassion.

Our collective worship is planned as follows:

  • Weekly Assemblies – rooted in the Sunday Mass readings, each Monday assembly includes creative content such as film, story, song or animation and always leads to prayers and reflection.
  • Daily Classroom Prayer – using the current TenTen resources, five daily prayers (Monday to Friday) to be led in the classroom by staff or children, rooted in the Sunday Mass readings.
  • Links to Home – a one-page monthly newsletter for parents which shares articles inspired by the assemblies; the newsletter is sent home as an email and is used as part of the school weekly newsletter.
  • Staffroom Prayers– own prayers led by staff or using the TenTen resources including input on vocation, support for non-Catholic teachers.

At St. Marie’s Catholic Primary School, we work with great care and commitment to ensure that prayer is at the very heart of our community. Inspired by our Mission Statement, “Jesus is always my friend,” prayer shapes the rhythm of our days, weeks, and liturgical seasons. The richness of the Church’s year is reflected in the tone, environment, and prayerful activity within our school, helping children encounter the presence of Christ in meaningful and age‑appropriate ways.

Guided by our Vision—“Through working together, loving each other, and always doing our best, at St Marie’s we will all become the amazing, unique individuals God wants us to be”—we aim for all pupils and staff to experience a variety of forms of prayer and liturgy. We want every child to know deeply that they are a beloved child of God, precious in His eyes, and to be supported in developing a personal and growing relationship with Him. Our inclusive approach ensures that all children, whatever their background or level of faith experience, have opportunities to participate, lead, reflect, and pray in ways that nurture their spiritual development.

Our Annual Plan of Provision provides an overview of the liturgical seasons and our ongoing practices, alongside a clear calendar of worship throughout the year. It also highlights the strong connections between school, home, and parish, reinforcing our shared mission to walk together in faith, friendship, and love.
