At the end of our refugees topic we thought about things that we need and things that we want. We started by thinking about the difference between what we want and what we need. The children were shown 12 different things. (clean water, healthy food, mobile phone, shelter, medicines, education, clothes, holidays, bikes etc). The first challenge was to pick 8 things. Then we could only choose 4. Finally each group were given £4 and all of the choices were either priced at £1 or £2. However, there were not enough of each choice for every group. This meant that not all groups (villages) had the option of healthy food or medicine or clean water. This made us think about how lucky we are that we are able to access all of the things we need. We also felt lucky for having lots of things that we want too.
What do Y3 need Vs want?
