Today, the Year 5 children (and staff!) took part in a Skipathon to raise money for the HSA.
Â
First, they went to ‘skipping school’ and then after lunchtime started their one hour skipathon. The children worked in pairs to try different types of skips: single bounce, double bounce, straddle skip, hop, freestyle and wiggle jump. They recorded their successes and said they had loved it (and had wanted to skip for much longer!) They ended in the hall with some jump rope fun, girls v boys (their choice!)
Â
The afternoon ended with certificates and a games session. What a great way of raising money Year 5. Well done!

Skipping has many benefits including strengthening bones and muscles and preventing cardiovascular disorders. It improves stamina, balance, motor planning and confidence. As well as being  a healthy challenge, it’s fun and gets us working together as a class. For all these reasons, Year 5 loved skipping to help the HSA!
