Y1’s outdoor workshop to 1666

On Thursday we welcomed Jenny from Alfresco Learning. She delivered history workshops to both Year 1 and 2 outdoors.
The Year 1 children had a Great Fire of London workshop. They learned how to make wattle and daub houses using sticks, mud and straw (no horse poo like they had in 1666 though!) They then had a challenge to make Thomas Farriner a new waterproof bakery using a choice of 2 materials from stones, clay, foil, sticks and paper. The children joined in beautifully and enthusiastically.
Thank you to all our families for ensuring all our children were kitted out ready for the weather! Have a look at the photos to see what we got up to.
