Y1 Great fire relief printing

Year 1 have been exploring printing. We already have practised using different shapes, stamps and objects. This term we have practiced relief printing. We have practised making our own designs, tiles and looking carefully at how the paint does not cover our lines. This week, after looking at art inspired by the Great Fire of London, we have been making our own relief tiles on polystyrene tiles to create our very own art inspired by the Great Fire.

The children used their historical knowledge of buildings in 1666 and thought about the use of colours – although we did remember that in art we can use other colours too!

Have a look at what we got upto. Watch this space to see our end pieces soon!
