On Monday 6th November, Year 3 went back in time and thought about what life would have been like over 100 years ago. We looked at a local map from 1920, talked about the sort of jobs people would have done, how they would travel and communicate with each other. We then learnt about WW1: why it started and what affect it had on local communities. We then walked to the War Memorial in the grounds of St John’s church. We learnt about some of the local men, those names are on the memorial.
It was a lovely sunny morning and while we sketched the memorial, we reflected on the sacrifice that people in the past had made and thought about how we remember them. Back in school we made our own poppies for our Remembrance display.
