Great Fire of London in Year 1

Today, Year 1 took part in an outdoor learning workshop as part of our learning about the Great Fire of London. The children learned how to make walls from wattle and daub. We used sticks and weaved them to create the wall and then mixing straw and mud we made some daub to cover over the gaps from the sticks! The children then had a go at making some shelters from different materials (foil, clay, rocks etc) and we tested them by putting a pebble of Thomas Farriner inside and we sprayed it with water to see if he stayed dry. Many thanks to Jenny from Alfresco Learning. We had a great time and learned lots.
