After reading the class novel ‘Skellig’ and hearing about owl pellets, we decided to investigate for ourselves and see what was inside them. The photographs show the tiny animal bones we found; sometimes with 3 skulls inside just one small pellet. We were able to identify the skulls of different types of voles and mice eaten by the owl, and even able to identify bones such as hip bones, ribs, shoulder blades and ear cavities as well as jaw bones containing tiny teeth!
