Today, as part of Black History Month, Y1 learned about Rosa Parks and her peaceful protest on the bus. They learned about how this inspirational lady encouraged others to stand up for what was not a fair rule. Half of the children were then asked to put on bibs. These children got to sit on chairs, have a cushion, have their water bottle with them at the table and get some extra fresh air. “It’s not fair!” said the children without bibs on. “I feel like Rosa Parks on the bus” said another. We of course then swapped over so everyone had a turn at wearing a bib, sitting on a chair, having our water bottle at the table and extra fresh air. We thought about how Rosa Parks must have felt having to follow an unfair rule for so long.
