Year 2 have been learning about Judaism this week. They learned about the Jewish day of rest, Shabbat. Shabbat happens each week from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday. During Shabbat, Jewish people remember the story of creation from the Torah where God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th day.
In class, we spent time looking at and learning about challah bread, the kiddush cup, havdalah spice and the havdalah candle. The children really enjoyed having a go at making their own havdalah candles by softening individual candles and twisting them together.
