Writing Challenge

Our new writing challenge has been set today. To coincide with World Poetry Day on Tuesday 21st March, the challenge is to write a poem! The poem can be about whatever you like, but we'd like you to be creative with your language, and the poem's structure and form on the page.

It can be a rhyming poem, an acrostic poem, a haiku, or any other type of poem- it's up to you. Don't forget to use poetic techniques such as simles and metaphors.

Please bring in your poem by Wednesday 29th March, for those of you who would like to take part. Don’t forget Amazon Vouchers up for grabs for the best ones!

Sporting Basketball and Volleyball Stars!

Yesterday our Y4 Basketball team and the Seated Volleyball team went to the EIS to compete in the Winter Games festival. This was where schools from all over South Yorkshire had qualified in their sports to represent their City. In the morning our Seated Volleyball team competed in a variety of games. The games were very close and the narrowly missed out on playing for the bronze medal.

In the afternoon the Y4 Hostshots Basketball team competed in some incerdibly tough games. Overall we came 3rd and we were awarded Bronze medals.

Well done to all the children who competed. They were excellent ambassadors for our school and we are all very proud of them. Many thanks to the parents who were able to support us with transport and in staying for the day!

Y5 Bizkids Impress Judges!

This morning, a number of children from Y5BT, bravely went to present their cheque to St Luke’s. They were required to do a presentation explaining how they raised money for St Luke’s Hospice through the enterprise project, BIZKIDS. The judges were very entertained and impressed by the presentation and even gave us a standing ovation at the end – wow!

Natalie, Louis, Freya, Hazel and Paddy.

Frisbee Fun

Last night some Y5 and Y6 children took part in an Ultimate Frisbee Competition at school. The children were in teams of 4 and played at least 5 matches. They learned the rules of Ultimate Frisbee  including different ways to throw the frisbee and how to score. All the children showed cooperation and determination as they played the games which ended up with a Y5 team as the overall winners. Well done to all that took part!
