World Book Day in Reception

The Reception children started the day by reading a book about Elmer the elephant. The children voted which Elmer book they wanted to read. Then they took their learning outside to decorate a giant Elma picture and to hunt for pictures of some of their favourite story book characters. In the afternoon they split into groups to create an Elma the elephant mask and to choose a book from our book swap. Mr Fernandes joined us to watch our fantastic Elmer parade! The day ended with the children choosing to listen to a story read by Miss Slater, Mrs Walton or Miss Dixon. Everyone joined in with all the activities and they were awarded a special certificate and bookmark to take home – what a busy day!
