South Yorkshire School Games

Having qualified for the South Yorkshire games our Athletes and Orienteers travelled to Doncaster on Tuesday 1st July to compete as a school but to also represent Sheffield in the competition. St Marie's took part in the Opening Ceremony with others schools from Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley which was opened by British Long Jump Champion Chris Tomlinson. It was a tremendous result for us as St Marie's Athletics team finished 2nd in front of some very strong schools. Well done to everyone for a great team performance. You were all Super Stars!! Check out the St Marie's You Tube Channel for some sprinting videos!

Magnificent Mayfield Crowned Champions

St Marie's sports day was once again a huge success with Mayfield crowned 2014 champions.

The English Institute of Sport Sheffield (EISS) again proved to be an inspirational setting for a dramatic finish where only 12 points separated the top two teams.

During the final 400m heats, late on into the event, the lead changed hands numerous times with Mayfield eventually taking the title in the last few races from Thornbridge. The final scores were.

Mayfield 1257, Thornbridge 1245, Eyam 1211 & Padley 1204

Well done to everybody who competed and contributed to their team's points.

A big thanks also to the all the parents and the All Saint's volunteers who helped on the day.

Check out the photos below (more to come!).

Holland Champs in KS1 Sport's Day

All Saints Catholic High School was the venue for our Key Stage One annual 'Sainsbury's School Games' Sports Day on Tuesday 24th June. The morning's event at The Goals sports centre was a great success. The 125 students formed mixed year group teams each taking the name of different World Cup country team.

Each team showed git & determination as they battled the heat to complete 15 different activities. From scoring goals & balancing bean bags to completing sack races & obstacle courses the children worked in teams to compete for the most points. The children's hard work & team spirt was rewarded as each child was awarded a medal. The top teams were, in third place Japan with team captain Mrs Borland, second place was Miss Ogielda's Spain and the winning team was The Netherlands. The event concluded with fun races in year groups as the children sped their way to the finishing line in running and egg& spoon races. Well done to all the children!

The children were cheered along by the many parents & family members who came along to support & spectate. Also 15 students from All Saints School helped the event run smoothly as they each ran an activity. They were great role models as the led & supported our students brilliantly.

Thank you to all the staff, parents, volunteers & children who made the event an overwhelming success.

They were all winners! Check out the photos in the gallery.
