In Y3, we have been, or will be, looking at different measures in Maths. We would like the children to research the most interesting measurements they can find to share with the class. This could be the tallest person in the world, the person with the biggest feet or even the longest fingernails! The children may write down their findings as a poster if they would like to earn extra reward points.
Schofield and Sims
The children should complete one page of their Schofield and Sims book and return their book to school by Wednesday 23rd May. Please complete any corrections before beginning a new test to ensure any misconceptions have been addressed.
Please continue to read regularly with your child. Reward points will be given to children who record what they have read in their reading diaries. Please ask your child to tell you about what they have read. This will help to ensure your child can understand the text they are reading.
During their morning work, the children have been looking at creating adverbs using the suffix –ly. In some instances the –ly suffix changes the spelling of the root word, e.g. happy becomes happily. However, the –ly suffix does not always change the spelling, e.g. kind becomes kindly, but the spelling of kind does not change.
Please look through the workbooks with the children, complete any unfinished work and practise the spellings. The spellings are:
kindly, quickly, safely, rudely, sweetly, strongly, bravely, secretly, finally, usually
happily, angrily, lazily, busily, greedily, messily, wearily, cheekily, clumsily
Please check that your child can spell these words and use them correctly in a sentence. There will be a spelling test on these words.
